Every room needs...

Whether your space is neutral and monotone or bright and colorful, the addition of a black accessory is an easy way to step up your style. It adds refinement to the playful and a little edge to the practical. Whatever your style, a little black just makes it better.

1. add a black lampshade to up the glamour 2. a black Mongolian fur pillow offers a textural edge 3. a black tray adds instant polish to a vanity while corralling your perfumes and jewelry 4. a little black and white art wakes up your walls 5. black coffee table books not only look great, but add function for your inquisitive visitors

Are you thinking of adding a little black to your space? Are you rocking a little black already? Do tell!

Personal Style File: Neon for Fall

Temperatures are really dropping around these parts so it was time to break out the sweaters. I'm all for the change in weather, but am not ready to let go of summer's colors. Neon in particular.

Spilling the Beans: My Favorite Thrift Shops

I get asked this question at least twice a week, but have remained mum about my favorite thrift/consignment shops up until this point. Well, today, I'm spilling my guts and sharing my favorite Memphis area locations.
Memphis Goodwill has signed two new contracts.
You never know what you're going to find at any given location, so you have to go in with an open mind. I always head straight for the furniture and housewares in search of vintage find or inexpensive necessities, like art/photo frames, lighting, or table top accessories. But, when I think about it, I peruse the clothing section, looking for large shirts or skirts that can be used as fabric for pillows.

Here are a few of Goodwill pieces around my home.

There are SEVERAL Goodwill locations within the city limits and there are three that I visit on a pretty regular basis. Just do a Google search for one (or all) that's closest to you.
Antique Gallery is sort of a one stop shop for vintage finds. It's made up of booths from several individual sellers, so the gamut runs from early 1900s to midcentury finds. Although you're bound to find some great pieces, the only down side is that you're not going to get them at rock bottom prices. All in all, still a great place if you're on the hunt for a treasured piece.

Awesome place to check when you're searching for specific items, like lighting, a matching set of chairs, office furniture and, of course, architectural pieces like doors, windows & cabinets.

I snagged these at the Memphis ReStore

4. Helping People God's Way Thrift Store

This place is my treasure trove...and the one I hate to give up. Always great pieces and even better prices...including daily sales.

My favorite find...ever

That's all I'm willing to give up for now. I've given up mine, now you tell me yours...where do you like to shop for vintage finds?
